On the 15th of July 2024, Aguaconsult facilitated a validation workshop hosted by the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation and supported by UNICEF Kenya. Khuzwayo Tembo (WASH Engineer / Specialist at Aguaconsult) and Dr. Joy Riungu (Independent Consultant) presented highlights of the Situational Analysis of the Enabling Environment for Safely Managed Onsite Sanitation (SMOSS) in Kenya, and presented a draft Strategy for Scaling Up SMOSS in Kenya to sector stakeholders.
Aguaconsult was commissioned by the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF Kenya, to assess the enabling environment for Safely Managed Onsite Sanitation (SMOSS) and develop a strategy for scaling up SMOSS. The validation workshop was a final stage of the process which included a comprehensive set of consultations with sector leaders and experts, and field immersion visits in several counties of Kenya.
