Our climate is rapidly changing. Today, the incidence of flooding, drought, and other extreme weather events has a devastating impact on communities, a trend that is set to continue unless the global community takes urgent action. It has the potential to halt progress in improving access to clean water, adequate sanitation, and good hygiene and drive more people into poverty. In the face of the extreme and uncertain effects of global warming, services must be designed to be flexible and robust. It is more necessary than ever to increase the long-term resilience of water, sanitation, and hygiene systems.
At Aguaconsult, we support governments, service providers, and international organisations in building climate resilience in the water, sanitation, and hygiene sectors. These efforts are not just a fundamental response to the crisis. They also holds the promise of being a key solution for both climate change adaptation and contributor to mitigation. Our experience in this area includes:
Shockwave and Osprey Foundation 2023
Climate Resilience Assessment and Guidance Tool. Study focused on enhancing climate resilience for rural water supply initiatives within WASH organizations.
UNICEF Ghana 2023
Resilient WASH assessment. Assessment of key risks that can impact the delivery of WASH services and threaten Ghana’s environment and population’s health and well-being.
UNICEF Rwanda, 2021
Strengthening Climate Resilient WASH Programming. Assessment risks associated with climate change facing the WASH sector in Rwanda and development of climate-resilient WASH programming.
GIZ 2020
Climate Resilient Urban Sanitation. Support to GIZ to improve the understanding of interlinkages between climate change and urban sanitation systems and its critical link to urban resilience.
